Welcome! Guillermo and Samuel!

Two new members joined the Hsueh Lab since the summer. We welcome Dr. Guillermo Vidal-Diez de Ulzurrun and Samuel Chen to join our team. Dr. Guillermo Vidal-Diez de Ulzurrun received his PhD in Applied Mathematics from Ghent University in Belgium earlier this year. During his Ph.D., he developed different mathematical models to study the growth of filamentous fungi. We are very excited to have him joining the group, as we will rely on his mathematic expertise to study nematode-trapping fungi from a different angle.

Samuel Chen was an undergraduate student from National Cheng Kung University and got his master degree from the Academina Sinica-National Taiwan University Genome and Systems Biology program under the supervision of Dr. Jun-Yi Leu. Samuel’s master thesis focused on studying the hybrid fitness inSaccharomycetes. He is interested in evolution in general and joined our lab as a research assistant. He will study nematode-trapping fungi in our laboratory. Welcome!
